.:WHEN YOU FEEL LOST:.
how do you find your way?
Some might expect the life of a barn cat to be boring, but Decibelle would heartily disagree. There was no shortage of mice most of the year, and when there was, her farmfolk would put food out so no one would go hungry. There were so many things to explore, so much work to be done. The farm folk relied on their cats to keep their farm free of pests, a duty Decibelle had learned to take seriously.
Yet, she knew there was more out there. More to explore and to experience. Maybe that was why Lily Anne went wandering about so often, disappearing for days at a time. Maybe she would Decibelle go with her eventually, to see what there was beyond their home. A combination of nervousness and excitement flittered through her gut at the thought. She'd very much like to have that chance, though she hardly liked the thought of leaving home, where her father made sure she was safe.
The thoughts of other cats, as well, filled her with a lot of excitement. Most of her life, she had met only her father's mates and her siblings, only occasionally getting to meet an unrelated neighbor. She didn't want to go very far, unless, perhaps, she met a tom she loved very dearly, who she might consider going to stay with. But she could only pray she'd be so lucky some day.
She imagined the sort of time she might meet very briefly. Handsome, of course, and hopefully kind and loving as her father was. Hopefully someone nearby, or at least willing to stay nearby. She'd very much have like to stay near her family. Her littermates meant so much to her, and what if her mother had more kits? Or her aunt?
