Welcome to Ancient as the Sea! We are now officially open, although a few tweaks to coding and additions to lore are still being made. That said, feel free to look around, especially at the important links to the right, and the general info board.
SETTING
Our site is a fictional point on the North Carolina coast, near a mid-size town home to a Ferry leading to the Outer Banks. The clans here have established themselves in three places, the town, the forest to the west, and the grassy marshes to the South.

A patch of what used to be farmland, but is now abandoned, stretches up the coastline, and Waveclan aims this territory as their own. They mark the scent border at the place where the field ends and the roads of the town begin. Ferryclan has asked several times for hunting privileges in the area when times were hard, and it has been granted to them temporarily. It is likely than in the event that Ferryclan desperately needs territory, they will take that area for themselves. No one is quite sure how Waveclan would react.
The source of the most hostility among the clans, Ferryclan believes they deserve at least a small portion of the woods, as a fence encloses part of it. They have over the moons marked at the fence instead of the true tree line, and have been punished severely for it by Rootclan. It is a source of constant contention for two clans who struggle to feed and protect their own.
Between Rootclan and Waveclan, their border is actually far less regulated than it should be, as the ridge prevents a stable scentline. Most often the patrols will simply ascend to the top and try and mark where they think they can. There have been occasional moments of tension when one patrol feels like the other patrol is too close to violating the other's territory, but this is rare, and any fights that have broken out on the Ridge end in more pain and hurt than is worth it.
South and east, past the clan's burial grounds, are the lawless forest lands. Since there is no Rootclan to hold back the predators there, foxes, coyotes, and raccoons are more common, and only a few small groups of cats inhabit the area.
There is no way that Ferryclan could possibly be in control of the entire town, even if it is small. As a result, outsiders will hide in the unpatrolled streets and alleyways, trying to find ways to sneak past Ferryclan's guard into the more abundant areas of the territory, where they are more likely to find food. The area is known for its lawlessness, and it is usually considered unsafe to go around alone.
The farms are surprisingly well populated with cats, who are generally very calm and peaceful about their land, so long as no one abuses it. They tend to be very protective of one another, like some large scattered extended family. Outsiders can usually depend on their hospitality, but cross them and you will have a grudge held against you for the rest of your life.
