Ferryclan
Egg Festival In the spring humans have an odd celebration, which the clan has never exactly understood, but they certainly enjoy taking advantage of it. Apprentices and young warriors will go out on the day when the bells ring and humans hide bright colorful baskets of eggs and other things. Occasionally they will also bring out fluffy rabbits and hares. The clan cats stay away from the live rabbits, as that would be just asking to get nabbed by the human trappers, but they still join in on the fun of hunting for bright colored goodies. Mostly apprentices and younger warriors participate, and they go out either looking for actual cooked eggs that have been dyed, or the plastic ones, depending on whether the cat prefers a snack or a contribution to their own little collection of goodies. At the end of the day there is a feast, as many humans tend to feast on the day as well, meaning scraps are abundant on top of the tasty egg treats.
Night of Sky Lights Coinciding with the Fourth of July Celebrations, the clan enjoys a particularly good haul of food on these days, especially along the parade route. They generally spend most of the day in celebration, as excited as the humans and especially full from recent months of better hunting. Some say this is a prime romantic time, as mates use the freedom and relaxation of the clan to sneak away for some alone time. At night even the kits are taken out of camp to a safe place where they can watch the fireworks bursting in the sky, and cats sleep in extra long the next day. Usually cats will take the next day to scrounge around for goodies and scraps of cloth or colorful paper to add to their collections.
Star Pine Gathering In the cool of winter, this festival is really a nice break from the hectic pursuit of food and shelter. Everything seems to slow down and the streets become sparse. Late at night once the humans have gone to bed, the clan usually manages to seek out the remains of their feasts of turkey and ham, and have a smaller feast of their own. Then the clan cats will trade bits from their collections to others in the clan, or give gifts of their collections to others. They see it as a way to bind the clan together during their least prosperous time and strengthen ties of loyalty and trust. Often they will go take treks to look at the displays of lights on the houses or on the tree at one end of the ferry square. The most daring will climb the tree to steal some trinket from among the ornaments.
Waveclan
The Fasting During Storms, the clan fasts for a full night and day (except for the sick and kits), and spend the time hunting and contemplating the sacrifices of their ancestors. They share a time of silence as the sun sets, and then feast on the prey they have caught as a show of gratitude and hope that just like their ancestors survived and thrived after the flood, so can they. This is a time of calm and contemplation, and appreciating life.
The Nesting At the beginning of the Chill the clan takes a day to remove all bedding from the camp, and then finds replacements, including dried grass and moss, bird feathers from empty nests or migrating birds, and leftover bits of fur from land prey. The community event involves different groups seeking out different materials while other cats form the flooring and nests of the camp and queens with kits get prime attention to keep the kits warm.
Rootclan
The Bloom After the long few moons of leafbare, the clan emerges from the cooler moons to the bright and living green of newleaf. The clan celebrates by clearing out the dens and replacing everything with fresh moss and sweet-smelling herbs and flowers, and some cats attempt to twist fragrant flowers and herbs into their fur. Everycat shares tongues and gets a thorough washing, a communal activity of renewal and relaxation.
The Tournament Mid-Greenleaf the clan will take a few days of preparation and training and then hold a clan-wide tournament. Each rank have their own heats, apprentices and warriors, and the winners of both categories are given priority food choice and a day of rest/recuperation if wounds have been sustained. This tournament is a way of both showcasing abilities but also enjoying the company of the clan and cheering on family and friends. Even kits take part, although they only watch. Occasionally warriors and apprentices will bet on the side, stuff like prey, nest placement, unsavory chores, etc. The deputy allows it, so long as it doesnt get too out of hand.
The Hunt Just before leafbare really hits, Rootclan prepares an expedition to hunt weasels. They hunt both the animals themselves, but also their hordes of small prey. The hunt usually involves a fight with a few weasels, but the prey stash is enough to help fatten the clan for leafbare. Usually the Hunt occurs in squads of cats, where each squad consists of a tracker, a smaller more maneuverable cat, and several fighters. Once the squad finds a weasel den through the tracker, the smaller cat digs into the den to draw it out, and the fighters kill the weasel.
