WHITESTONE
43 moons
Guardian
Formerly Waveclan
DESCRIPTION
A substantial mostly white she-cat with ginger patches and deep amber eyes.APPEARANCE
Whitestone is larger than most she-cats, with long plush fur that makes her look even larger. Her fur is generally soft and well kept, if only because she absent-mindedly grooms herself whenever she is deep in thought. Most of her body is white in color, but she has creamy ginger patches along her back and on her head, and tail. A a kitten these patches looked more pale and dilute, but they deepened and solidified with age. She was born with intense gray-blue eyes that deepened to a brilliant amber with just a hint of her original eye color around the pupil. She has many battle scars, mostly clouded by her pelt.PERSONALITY
Dedicated. Strong. Quiet. Socially innept. Distant.
There are many words one could use to describe Whitestone. Dedicated. Strong. Hardworking. Unfortunately, a lot of those terms tend to be impersonal coming from the cats she grew up around. In fact, Whitestone has always been very quiet when it came to socialization, and this led to a deep divide between herself and her clanmates, and what made it easy for her to make herself an impartial party when becoming a guardian. She's always struggled with social connections, other than with her brother. While it became easier among the Guardians, due to the small nature of their group, But Whitestone still finds it hard to make deep connections even among her fellow Guardians.Beyond her struggling social game, Whitestone is a hard worker, very devout to the warrior code and her role as a Guardian. She finds importance in structure and self-discipline. She rarely laughs or smiles, not necessarily that she's against it, she just struggles to be in a place where she feels those kinds of emotions. The only cat who could bring them out in her frequently was her brother. It's possible that it's a defense mechanism Whitestone formed originally to deal with her mother's lack of love for her and Blacksky. She can be aggressive to those who try to encroach upon her past in particular, especially if anyone makes a negative comment about her brother. As an apprentice, she was known to get into a few scuffles here and there when someone said something she didn't like, and while she knows now that as a Guardian she must control it she definitely still feels the urge to give someone a good whack once in a while.
She takes her duties very seriously as a Gaurdian, and physically fits the role quite well, being quite a tough fighter, but also very controlled and graceful in her every day activities. She works with confidence, pride, and certainty. She rarely, if ever, hesitates.
HISTORY
Morningfur was born into the clan but she didn't have much of a family and she didn't have a close connection with her mother; perhaps that was the reason the detached nature that she quickly developed. Despite her looks and skills as a warrior, she wasn't very approachable and so she never really did take a mate... so when she showed signs of expecting kits, the clan was surprised. She never spoke of the father and no one knew who he could've been.In the early Winds season, Whitekit was born alongside her brother, both healthy and strong. The two kits grew fast and were happy and playful, but after a time they soon noticed that there mother was not as warm and loving as other Queens. At first they had thought it to be normal, but even they started to notice the looks they got; sympathy and worry. It wasn't as if they were abused in anyway, nor were they ever neglected, but Morningfur didn't seem to love them. Whitekit was nudged awake one night when Black-kit awoke and nudged his sister awake as well. Another cat was speaking to her mother. She was too young to fully understand what was being said but it sounded bad...
"You are not fit to be a Queen or a mother." It sounded like his mother was being scolded. The voice was so cold and disapproving.
"I agree." She replied with her usual calm yet indifferent tone, and there was a short stretch of silence. Whitekit felt her stomach twist in discomfort at that, but she also wanted to give a bitter laugh.
"... You are no longer permitted to have anymore kits. Should you do they will be taken away."
Whitekit felt..nothing. Were they going to be taken away from Morningfur? Did it even matter? However her mother returned to their nest and laid next to them. Whitekit didn't move from where she was, she merely drifted back to sleep as though nothing had happened.
Black-kit changed after that, sticking closer to their mother than ever, but Whitekit, if anything, grew more distant and independent. More and more often, she could be seen, laying alone outside the nursery, quietly observing her clan with an icy gaze. Sometimes, she would see things she could not explain, but she never spoke of them.
Whitepaw was given her apprentice name with her brother. She was happy to be out of the nursery, and to have something more to invest her energy into. She was an excellent apprentice, taking quickly to training practices. In particular, she excelled at fighting. Many expected her to end up Whiteclaw, if her fate had been to become a warrior. Starclan, however, had a different path in mind for her.
She was always excited to spend time training with Blackpaw, as despite her withdrawn attitude, she always had affectionate feelings for her brother. She was proud when he found his own way in training, managed to start catching up on his basic training. He was so much more social than he was, and she saw him beginning to use that to his advantage.
The day Blackpaw was asked to be the Skywatcher's apprentice was a bitter sweet one for Whitepaw. Of course she was proud of her brother. She loved him dearly and was thrilled that he could be given such an opportunity. But she this opportunity would take her brother even farther away from her. They would never be close, like some part of her had hoped. And she'd have been lying if she had said she hadn't been jealous at all.
A few more moons passed. Whitepaw was growing steadily closer to becoming a warrior, and steadily further away from her clanmates. Without Blackpaw around all the time, she found it virtually impossible to connect with any of them. She knew there was something different about her. Like the little things she would spot as a kit that nobody else seemed to see, those visions that had never quite gone away. If she wasn't training, she only seemed to stare about, with an icy, cool gaze. She was level headed, intelligent, loyal to the code, but somehow different.
Her life changed when the announcement reached the clan. One of the Guardians who'd come from Waveclan had passed on to the next life. Waveclan was to offer a new guardian. Much to her surprise, and relief, Whitepaw was chosen.
There was a sense of horror in this new path, being pulled away from Blackpaw and all, but there was also some relief. Whitepaw had never felt close to her clan. While she had never doubted Starclan or shown disrespect for the warrior code, she knew that she could trust herself to be a neutral party between her clan and the others. Perhaps this would be a fresh start for her.
So she was sent to train as a Guardian. Several moons passed as Whitepaw trained among the guardians. This place was peaceful, and something about it just felt right. The training was difficult and intense, yet rewarding. She began seeing things again, like when she was a kit, only this time she was supposed to see things. This place was where she fit in, and where she would spend the rest of her moons without a doubt.
Eventually, Whitepaw was given the name Whitestone, when she became a full Guardian. While she often wonders if Blacksky (as she learned he has become) is happy and safe back in Waveclan, she knows that she would not be if she had not followed this path. She is content where she is, though she misses her brother dearly.
