High Rank Tryouts High Ranks are vital for the functioning of each clan, and only the best are chosen for these positions. Not only are these requirements in character but also out of character, as each position has their duties. High Ranks are more likely to be chosen as future staff as well. You are allowed to have two High positions at once, but they cannot be both in the same category (no two leader+deputy, no two meddies, no two guardians), nor can the be in the same clan. Please be sure to read the threads which discuss the paths to leadership in each clan, as well as the thread on unique positions in each clan. Also please please if you are trying out for a medicine cat Read the thread on medicine cats, and the one on Starclan.Due to some confusion, I am becoming more strict on this. High position apprentices WILL NOT BE MADE APPRENTICES AT 6 MOONS. The aging is mentioned in the character creation thread, the cat behavior thread, and specifically the medicine cat thread. But I will explain the WHY here. 12 moons is the minimum age of Adulthood, and by minimum, these are the cats who have enough maturity and trust from their superiors, and the minimum skills needed to survive as a warrior. The clans can't afford to have medicine cats that can't defend themselves, that can't hunt for themselves, or don't understand the basics of what warrior life is like. And instead of having their medicine cat/skywatcher mentors teach them these skills alongside their own rank specific skills, they have warriors who have trained and lived their lives with those necessary skills. This way, if their medicine/skywatcher mentors are weak in an area of warrior skills, the Apprentice doesn't inherit that weakness. But most importantly, the reason why med cats and skywatcher wait for their apprentices (and guardians too), is that they know what kind of sacrifice they are asking their apprentices to make. While Skywatcher and Medicine Cats allow their apprentices to take mates under certain circumstances, they also want to offer them the time to do so, to raise children if they so wish, before making the ultimate commitment to their clan to not have kits after that. For guardians it is even more crucial that the Apprentice know the decision they are making, as it is far harder for a guardian Apprentice to go back on their training, as from the beginning they are being shaped to be completely different from any other cat, and they will have to decide to live a life of complete cwlibacy, as soon as they join the guardians as an apprentice. So from now on, here is how it will be.
The EARLIEST a medicine cat apprentice/skywatcher Apprentice can be chosen is at 9 moons, but they would have to be decent at hunting and fighting, no severe weaknesses in either area. These are the prodigees. More commonly they are 11-12 moons when they become apprentices.
Guardians may only become Guardian apprentices at 11 moons, earliest.
Average apprentices would graduate around 14 moons, unless they are generally well skilled and very mature. These positions are currently open -Waveclan- Senior Medicine Cat Medicine Cat -Rootclan- Master Medicine Cat -Ferryclan- Deputy Head Queen Med Apprentice 1 -Guardians- 2 Senior Guardians 2 Apprentice Guardians In order to try out for a High Position, you must have completed a profile and marked it as (HPT) or High Position Try-out. Be sure to check out the character guide for minimum word requirements. With regards to an application, quantity does not always mean quality, however characters with an interesting personality and history will be more likely to be picked than cats who are just cookie cutter characters. History and Personality will be the main areas which will be scrutinized when choosing a High Position. Try-out Form: [ul type="disc"] [li]Name:[/li] [li]Age:[/li] [li]Position trying out for:[/li] [li]Character Profile Link:[/li] [li]Why did your character choose this path in life?[/li] [li]What made their superiors choose or approve of their decision?[/li] [li]What skills and personality aspects do you think will help you in your position?[/li] [li]How would you react in a situation of war?[/li] [/ul] Fill out this form and reply to this post. - Name: Hollycloud
- Age: 60 moons
- Position trying out for: Medicine cat 1 of FerryClan
- Character Profile Link: clansofseagrasscove.proboards.com/thread/30/hollycloud-medicine-cat-ferryclan
- Why did your character choose this path in life? She was interested in medicine from kithood, always feeling fascinated by what the medicine cats and their apprentices were up to. She would follow them around like a shadow, always asking questions and poking her nose in everything they let her near. She never had much interest in the outside world, fighting, or hunting, and instead wanted to stay in camp as more of a figure of the community. At first, she was also swayed by an internal idea that being a medicine cat somehow made her more important than other cats, but there was also an obvious interest and caring nature behind that initial big-headedness.
[/b][li] What made their superiors choose or approve of their decision? She was clearly interested and committed to the craft as well as bright and willing to learn. She also showed herself to be level-headed and quite competent whenever given simple tasks.[/li]
[li] What skills and personality aspects do you think will help you in your position? Calm and level-headed, she is capable of dealing with unsettling situations without getting easily flustered, she is also very capable and able to correctly apply the lessons she has learned. She is assertive, and not to be pushed around or argued too much with, so is able to cope with aggressive or pushy patients if needed, and finally she is very self-critical and reflective about her practice. She tries her best to always do better by the cats she treats.[/li]
[li] How would you react in a situation of war? Hollycloud concentrates on healing and doesn't think of too much else. She would treat any cat who crossed her path, and holds fast to the ideals that a medicine cat must treat anycat regardless of who's side they're on. She would do what was in her power to stop a conflict if she could, and feels a strong sense of community and protectiveness of her clanmates, but she could rarely bring herself to bring about harm to another cat, and would only fight if there was a direct invasion of camp itself. Even then, she might think herself of better use in dragging the injured out of the way of the conflict rather than leaping in herself.[/li] [/ul]

[/font][li] Name: Saltstar[/li]
[li] Age: 63 Moons[/li]
[li] Position trying out for: Ferryclan Leader[/li]
[li] Character Profile Link: LINK[/li]
[li] Why did your character choose this path in life?[/li] Saltstar has always bee dedicated to helping her clan, and when the opportunity for leadership arose she saw it as the ultimate opportunity. Her heart and passion lied in finding new ways to improve her clan and make them stronger. She wanted to find them more friendships with non-clanners, give them more opportunities to grow and chance and become the strongest, most adaptable clan of them all. She knew Ferryclan was destined for greatness, and she was determined to be the one to help them find it.
[li] What made their superiors choose or approve of their decision?[/li] From her kithood, Saltstar had involved herself in every aspect of her clan. From helping with training to never once complaining about having to clean out the elder's nests and even going as far as to volunteer for it. There are few cats with such drive to work so hard for their clan. When the position of deputy opened up, it seemed like a no-brainer to make the respected, hard-working warrior Saltstorm the potential future leader of the clan. As deputy, Saltstar's drive continued to impress her clan. She reached out to her clanmates, asking them for opinions and advice on what they believe the clan needed to improve upon. She sought new ways to train and make their warriors better fighters, and leave them in better standing with the non-clanners that lived so closely with them. She never hesitated to lead others into difficult situations when needed, or to take responsibility for her actions. When Cherrystar passed to Starclan, nobody would have thought to deny Saltstar the position.
[li] What skills and personality aspects do you think will help you in your position?[/li] Saltstar's drive means she's up to every challenge. She's never afraid to ask hard questions or make difficult decisions with confidence. Her confidence makes her a capable and respected leader, even in the face of her biggest mistakes. Also, having been heavily involved in every aspect of her clan's life since kithood, she is deeply familiar with the needs and talents of every group, and every cat in the clan. She knows just who is needed when, and what talents go best where. She even has taken it upon herself to help kits and apprentices (and new members) to find what path best suits them in their lives. Saltstar is very involved as a leader, and she knows she could never ask anyone to do anything she wouldn't try herself.
[li] How would you react in a situation of war?[/li] Saltstar is a very tactical cat when it comes to war. She looks at each situation evenly and seriously. Defense always comes first. Her clan's safety always comes first. She would set up extra patrols and watches throughout her territory, especially in the direction of the threat(s), even reaching out to non-clan cats to keep lookout in case the threats invade. After all, invasion of another clan could very well threaten non-clan cats as well. Once setting up ample defenses, though, Saltstar moved immediately into the offensive. She plans out the path of attack, where and when to send out scouts, and how to move in. She knows the strength in her clan lies in variety, adaptability and spontaneity. She can have her clan moving fast, acting fast, and attacking in new ways, even going as far as to lure incoming attacks into traps. When it comes to war, Saltstar is ruthless towards the enemy. She also always if there to lead her clan into battle, never failing to be on the front lines. Even when she was ill during her pregnancy, Saltstar was prepared to defend her clan and lead them into battle. On top of it she is always prepared for war, expecting such a situation to arise with Rootclan at some point.

[/b][li] Position trying out for:[/li] Guardian [li] Character Profile Link:[/li] link[li] Why did your character choose this path in life?[/li] Lotus-stone was always destined to become a Guardian. She believes her path was predetermined before her birth and everything she has done up to this point has lead to her becoming a Guardian. Her start as a kittypet, her fateful meeting with the Clans, her induction in to FerryClan; all of it was leading up to becoming a Guardian. Truthfully, Lotus-stone has questioned her position in life once or twice. Thankfully, she came to the conclusion that she is belongs among the ranks of the Guardians quickly after being inducted to their ranks. Her doubt only rose when she was frustrated from training under the other Guardians. When all her hard work finally paid off, she never once looked back. [li] What made their superiors choose or approve of their decision?[/li] Lotus-stone was born with high spirit affinity, giving her a natural inclination to a spiritual position. It just so happens her path has lead her to the Guardians rather than the medicine cats. Strangely enough, Lotus-stone has prior experience in being a Guardian before she was chosen. Most of her young life was spent guarding a human graveyard from pests and intruders. Not only does she have experience, but this also gives her a sense of peace in the midst of the dead. Finally, Lotus-stone spent many moons training under the Guardians to prove her worth to them. She weathered their impossible training methods to prove she has the strength and character it takes to be a Guardian. [li] What skills and personality aspects do you think will help you in your position?[/li] Diligence, vigilance, dedication, and empathy are the key characteristics Lotus-stone brings to her position of Guardian. She has entirely dedicated herself to their way of life and remains loyal to their cause. Her training has made her familiar with any threats to the sacred lands and is skilled in keeping out intruders. Lotus-stone is no slacker, she takes her job very seriously and does not let her defenses down for anything. Additionally, Lotus-stone is a revered fighter among her Guardian-mates. She has clashed with malicious spirits time and time again and never once has she lost to them. She has quite the impressive track record. [li] How would you react in a situation of war?[/li] Lotus-stone would stay neutral. She is a guardian and she has no concern for Clan matters that lie outside her duties. If the war does not affect her duties as a guardian, she will stay out of it. That being said, she will have very complicated feelings on the situation. She hates seeing good cat die young and hates having to bury them even more. Locus-stone has been removed from FerryClan-life for so long, she has lost the threads that tie herself to them. She will not favour them over any of the other clans. She tries to remain neutral on all aspects of clan conflicts. [/ul]

[/a] [li]Why did your character choose this path in life?[/li] As Sorrelsky’s apprentice training wore on, she found herself more interested in the doings of the Skywatchers than that of regular warriors. While she was competent at her duties, the idea of watching the skies and protecting the clan appealed to her. She enjoys having a reason to race from one end of the territory to another. Also, she simply likes the job. She finds storms interesting, and while storms are a destructive force, the weather as a whole is tied in with her concept of StarClan. [li]What made their superiors choose or approve of their decision?[/li] A new apprentice was needed, and Sorrelsky had shown clear and definitive interest. When introduced to some basic concepts, she picked them up quickly, seemed to grasp them well, and continued to be curious about the subject of weather. Recently, she has been studying the link between patterns in the weather and prey activity. [li]What skills and personality aspects do you think will help you in your position?[/li] Sorrelsky is a calm, confident cat. While she has many fears, storms do not bother her. She is a swift, steady runner, able to easily traverse WaveClan territory. [li]How would you react in a situation of war?[/li] Sorrelsky would be greatly worried. She would worry for her clanmates’ safety, and feel torn about her own role in the clan. As a Skywatcher, she is discouraged from entering battle, as the death of both Skywatchers mean that the skill is lost. She would feel frustrated about not being able to unsheathe her claws in defense of WaveClan, but at the same time, she would also fear for herself and her mentor. If an enemy of WaveClan wanted to really hit where it hurt, she knows that she and her mentor would be prime targets. [/ul]

Everyone is officially Accepted for High Positions!
A few nitpicks though, I noticed several repeats of prefixes, thats fine to a certain extent, but I may have to contact people to make small changes in their bios with names for relatives.
Other than that, Everyone may now start roleplaying! Leaders need to pair mentors and apprentices, and tomorrow I will generate the first injury/sickness for medicine cats (although Palepaw will have her hands full with a kitting). Have fun everyone!

[/b] Blacksky Age: 43 Moons Position trying out for: Skywatcher Character Profile Link: clansofseagrasscove.proboards.com/thread/74/blacksky-hptWhy did your character choose this path in life? He always held a deep love and fascination for the weather and the seasons. And despite having to be separate from his clan most of the time, he saw it as the best way to serve them. Not being particularly good at anything, he saw it as a chance to be useful, while doing something he truly loved. What made their superiors choose or approve of their decision? His natural affinity and sharp wit make him an excellent pick for the role. He showed talent as a kit, when he told his mother how he knew it would rain when the ants went into hiding. He showed humility when he searched for ways to improve himself, and proved to be very quick to react and was very observant throughout his basic apprentice training. What skills and personality aspects do you think will help you in your position? His body and legs show that he possess the speed and endurance needed for patrolling and warning the clan. He is quick to pick up signs around him and he possesses a strong sense of responsibility. His wide-spread knowledge and abilities are great assets since he will have to spend a great deal of time alone. He is very in tuned with nature and knows the clans territory inside and out. How would you react in a situation of war? He has not experienced such a situation but he was taught to think and act in a self-preserving way. He would want to stick with his apprentice; seeing that one of them focuses on their role, while the other is alert to any threats that may appear and will remain ready to protect the other, so that they could properly perform their duties. He would likely encourage frequent den moves and ensure that they are always in a well protected or hidden location, with more frequent visits to the camp. He would like to avoid the boarders closer to the other clans but will not rules them out completely in their patrols. He would also consider joining Warrior patrols to ensure greater protection. [/b] Cedarclaw Age: 56 Moons Position trying out for: (Rootclan) Deputy Character Profile Link: clansofseagrasscove.proboards.com/thread/117/cedarclaw-hptWhy did your character choose this path in life? He loves his family very deeply and considers his entire clan as his family. He is remarkably loyal and devoted to his clan and is always wanting to improve himself for the good of the clan. He was pleased to take the role of Deputy for it allows him to serve his clan as much as he had always wanted to and more. What made their superiors choose or approve of their decision? He possess a great deal of strength and combat prowess, but also shows a lot of insight and integrity, as well as a deep rooted loyalty toward his clanmates, the clan and the code. He is flexible in everything he does. His dedication to the clan was seen when he assisted the Elders in training the kits and apprentices, and his qualities truly shone when he was made into a mentor. What skills and personality aspects do you think will help you in your position? He is empathetic, persistent, brave, and supportive. He is very adaptable and is able to work well with any cat he finds himself with. He is open-minded, yet naturally skeptical toward outsiders, but is humble and capable in seeing situations with many different viewpoints. How would you react in a situation of war? He would first analyze his clan and the situation behind the war, and would adjust his actions based accordingly. He would rotate patrols and see that every warrior was using their skills to the best of their abilities, but he would make sure a patrol was lead or supported with a very level-headed warrior. Apprentices would be restricted to training and patrols closer to camp, but he would make sure they are still contributing and that they were aware of the situation and their place in it. He would like to bring the clan together when they share tongues and hear from everyone, encouraging everyone to get involved. He would be extra vigilant, but would do what he could to maintain calm clear thoughts. He might stretch himself thin but he would try not to overwork himself. [/ul]
